HR & Hiring Support for Growing Businesses

Practical recruiting, employee administration, and fractional HR support that keeps your people processes organized as the business grows.

The first employee changes a business. The tenth changes it again. Hiring becomes a pipeline, employee questions become daily work, and the details around payroll, records, policies, and manager follow-through can no longer live in one person's inbox.

Service overview

Steady provides hands-on HR and hiring support for growing service businesses. We help you recruit, onboard, organize employee records, maintain practical policies, coordinate employee changes with payroll, and build repeatable processes without adding a full internal HR department.

When Steady also handles your payroll administration or bookkeeping , the employee, payroll, and financial workflows can be coordinated under one operating rhythm. If you use another payroll or benefits provider, we work alongside it and keep responsibilities clear.

What Steady can take off your plate

1

Recruiting that produces a usable shortlist

We can turn a hiring need into a defined process: clarify the role, prepare the posting, source candidates, screen applications, conduct initial interviews, coordinate the next round, and maintain candidate communication. You receive a structured shortlist and interview notes, while your team keeps control of the final decision.

Start with recruiting support for individual roles or recurring hiring needs. Transportation companies can use the more specialized transportation recruiting workflow.

2

Onboarding and offboarding that do not rely on memory

A good employee process has an owner, a checklist, and a clear handoff. Steady coordinates new-hire information, payroll enrollment, policy acknowledgments, access and equipment tasks, benefits handoffs, and first-week logistics. When someone leaves, we coordinate the record, payroll, property, access, and benefits steps that apply to the separation.

3

Employee administration connected to payroll

Employee data changes constantly. Pay rates, addresses, tax forms, PTO, managers, locations, and employment status all affect more than one system. Steady maintains the administrative record and coordinates approved changes with payroll, bookkeeping, and other providers.

Use employee records and HR administration when the file structure and ongoing updates are the problem. Use payroll-connected HR support when the main problem is the handoff between employee decisions and payroll processing.

How an engagement works

1

Define the operating problem

We start with the work that is actually breaking down. That might be an open role no one has time to fill, incomplete employee files, payroll changes arriving through text messages, an outdated handbook, or managers documenting issues five different ways.

2

Set scope and decision rights

The engagement states what Steady administers, what your managers approve, and which outside providers are involved. This prevents a common failure: a task appears delegated, but no one knows who owns the final decision or deadline.

3

Build the workflow and documents

We create or organize the checklists, templates, files, calendars, and handoffs required for the scope. When a legal or regulated question appears, we identify it and coordinate the right review instead of presenting administrative support as legal advice.

4

Run the work and report exceptions

For ongoing support, Steady maintains the agreed cadence and raises missing approvals, incomplete documents, approaching deadlines, and decisions that need the employer's attention. For a project, we deliver the defined files and a clear maintenance plan.

Built to connect with the rest of the back office

HR decisions create accounting work. A new hire affects payroll setup, workers' compensation data, labor reporting, cash requirements, and sometimes job costing. A termination affects final payroll, benefits, system access, and the employee record. A bonus plan affects approvals, payroll coding, and management reporting.

That is why Steady treats HR administration as a connected back-office process. If you need the financial side too, review job costing and field-service accounting and financial reporting and KPI dashboards .

HR delivery leadership

Steady's HR and hiring services are led by Anna Kim, SHRM-CP, an HR professional with experience in recruiting, payroll, onboarding, and employee relations. Anna holds an M.S. in Human Capital Management from Columbia University and an ADP Payroll Specialist credential. Her role connects HR administration to the repeatable delivery and quality-control processes used across Steady.

Who this service fits

This practice is designed for owner-led and manager-led businesses that have employees but do not need, or are not ready to hire, a full internal HR team. It is especially useful when:

  • hiring and onboarding are pulling owners away from revenue-producing work;
  • employee information is spread across email, folders, payroll, and manager notes;
  • payroll changes are late, incomplete, or difficult to trace;
  • managers need consistent forms and escalation steps;
  • a handbook or HR process must be built or cleaned up;
  • the company needs recurring administrative support with a defined point of contact;
  • a transportation or field-service business has ongoing recruiting pressure.

Questions, answered

Common questions

Is Steady a PEO or the employer of record?

No. Steady is not a professional employer organization and does not become the employer of record. Your company remains the employer, controls the workplace, and retains all employment decisions.

Can we use HR support without moving payroll to Steady?

Yes. Steady can coordinate with your existing payroll, benefits, HRIS, screening, and other providers. The scope will identify which updates Steady prepares or submits and which actions require your approval.

Does Steady provide employment-law advice?

No. Steady provides administrative support, process coordination, and practical documentation. We coordinate with qualified employment counsel when a handbook, policy, investigation, contested separation, classification issue, or other matter needs legal review.

Can we start with one project instead of monthly support?

Yes. A defined HR project can cover a handbook, file cleanup, onboarding workflow, recruiting-process setup, HRIS organization, or another specific deliverable. Ongoing support can be added later if the business needs it.

Will Steady make hiring or termination decisions for us?

No. Steady can organize the process, gather information, coordinate interviews, document approved actions, and keep tasks moving. Your authorized leaders make final hiring, pay, discipline, and termination decisions.

What is the first step?

Bring the problem you want fixed, the systems you currently use, and the people who approve decisions. Steady will define a practical scope, clarify boundaries, and identify whether the work should be a project or an ongoing service.

Build an HR process your managers can actually follow

You do not need a complicated HR program. You need clear ownership, complete records, dependable handoffs, and a process that still works when the week gets busy.
