1. Information We May Collect

Contact and communication information

When you complete a form, schedule a consultation, call us, send a message, or otherwise contact us, we may collect information such as your name, email address, telephone number, business name, job title, preferred contact method, the content of communications, files or attachments you choose to provide, and information about your business or service needs.

Client and service information

If you become a client, we may collect financial, accounting, payroll, tax, identity, ownership, employment, and business information reasonably needed to evaluate, establish, administer, and perform the services described in your engagement agreement. The information collected depends on the services requested and may include records provided by you, your employees, your authorized representatives, government agencies, financial institutions, payroll providers, or other service providers you authorize.

Portal, account, and payment information

If you use a client portal, scheduling platform, payment processor, or other account-based service, the applicable provider may collect account identifiers, authentication information, payment details, and activity records under its own terms and privacy notice. Steady may receive information reasonably needed to administer access, confirm transactions, provide support, and maintain business records. We generally do not need full payment-card credentials when payments are processed by a third-party provider.

Information from other sources

We may receive business contact information or service-related information from your authorized representatives, referral sources, professional advisers, service providers, publicly available business sources, or other persons who reasonably believe you may be interested in our services. We may combine that information with information you provide directly, where permitted by law.

Information collected automatically and server logs

When you use the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical and usage information, such as your Internet Protocol address, browser and device type, operating system, internet service provider, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, links or buttons selected, interactions with the Site, and the date and time of your visit. This information may be collected through cookies, pixels, server logs, and similar technologies.

Please do not send sensitive information through general website forms

Do not submit Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, bank or payment-card information, account credentials, passwords, tax returns, payroll records, copies of identification documents, or other sensitive financial information through the Site’s general contact or scheduling forms. Clients should use the secure portal or another secure method designated by Steady.

2. How We May Use Information

We may use personal information for purposes reasonably related to operating our business, communicating with you, and providing services, including to:

• Respond to questions, requests, messages, and inquiries.
• Schedule, prepare for, and conduct consultations.
• Evaluate whether our services may be appropriate for a prospective client.
• Establish, administer, manage, and perform client engagements.
• Operate, maintain, personalize, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve the Site and our services.
• Develop or refine services, processes, features, educational materials, and client support.
• Communicate administrative, service-related, educational, or marketing information where permitted by law.

3. Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the Site to function, help protect forms from spam or abuse, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use the Site. We may use analytics services such as Google Analytics. Those providers may collect usage information and set their own cookies in accordance with their terms and privacy notices.

You can adjust cookie settings through your browser. You may also use Google’s official analytics opt-out browser add-on where available. Blocking or deleting cookies may affect how parts of the Site function. If applicable law requires consent before certain nonessential technologies are used, we may provide a consent or preference mechanism appropriate to the circumstances.

We do not currently sell personal information or share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms may be defined under applicable privacy law. If we later use advertising or retargeting technologies, such as Google Ads, the Meta Pixel, or the LinkedIn Insight Tag, we may update this Policy and provide any notice, consent mechanism, or opt-out choice required by applicable law.

4. How We May Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:

• Service providers. We may use providers that support website hosting and security, analytics, scheduling services such as Calendly, forms and spam protection, communications, document storage, client portals, payment processing, accounting, payroll, tax preparation, and other business operations. They may receive information only as reasonably necessary to perform services for us, subject to their agreements and applicable law.
• Professional advisers and business partners. Where appropriate, and subject to applicable permissions and confidentiality requirements, we may disclose information to attorneys, accountants, insurers, consultants, subcontractors, or other advisers who assist us in operating the business or serving a client.
• Authorized persons and providers. At your direction, we may communicate or share information with persons or organizations you identify, such as employees, business owners, tax professionals, attorneys, financial institutions, payroll providers, software providers, or government agencies.
• Legal and protective purposes. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is required or permitted by law, legal process, a governmental request, an applicable professional requirement, or to protect rights, property, safety, systems, or prevent fraud or harm.
• Business transactions. Information may be disclosed in connection with an actual or proposed merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, subject to reasonable confidentiality and protection measures.
• At your direction or with your authorization. We may disclose information when you ask us to do so or otherwise authorize the disclosure.

We do not sell personal information as the term "sale" may be defined under applicable privacy law. We also do not currently share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Tax-Return Information

If you become a tax client, tax-return information may be subject to additional federal restrictions, including Internal Revenue Code section 7216 and related rules, as well as the terms of your engagement agreement and any separate consent forms. We use and disclose tax-return information only as permitted by applicable law, for purposes reasonably related to the engagement, or with any consent required by law. We do not use tax-return information for unrelated marketing purposes unless the use is permitted by law and any required consent has been obtained.

6. Information Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. The safeguards used may vary based on the nature and sensitivity of the information, the services involved, and the systems used.

No website, transmission method, storage system, or security measure can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information. You are responsible for using appropriate care when transmitting information and for protecting the confidentiality of account credentials associated with services you use.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to respond to inquiries, provide services, maintain business and tax records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal, regulatory, contractual, insurance, and professional requirements.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the relationship involved, the services provided, and applicable requirements. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it, subject to backup, archival, litigation-hold, and recordkeeping requirements.

8. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You may opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe method included in the message or by contacting us. You may control many cookies through browser settings, although doing so may affect Site functionality.

Depending on where you live and to the extent applicable law applies to Steady, you may have rights concerning personal information, such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain information, or to opt out of certain uses or disclosures. These rights may be subject to identity verification, exceptions, limitations, and record-retention requirements permitted by law.

We may decline or limit a request where permitted or required by law. We intend to respond within the period required by applicable law, if any. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

If applicable law requires us to recognize a legally valid browser-based opt-out preference signal, we will process the signal as required for the browser or device that sends it.

9. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Site may contain links to, or integrations with, third-party websites and services that we do not control. Their privacy, security, cookie, and data practices are governed by their own terms and policies. A link or integration does not necessarily imply endorsement, and Steady is not responsible for third-party privacy practices.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Site and our services are intended for adults and business users in the United States. They are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 16 through the Site. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us so we can review the matter and take appropriate action.

Steady is based in the United States, and the Site and services are intended primarily for users in the United States. Information may be processed or stored in the United States and in other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law and contractual protections.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, technology, or applicable requirements.
